In 2008, a maker of advanced laser systems needed a small, custom designed heater for a new application. The customer was interested in both a stainless steel version and a version on alumina ceramic. TFT was able to design virtually identical heating elements using the different substrates so that the heating elements could be evaluated side-by-side in the customer’s product. Though unusual with today’s gold prices, the customer wanted gold solder pads to complement the AuSn soldering process they intended to use and TFT was able to accommodate their needs.
